Open to the public since 23 February 2024, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is hosting a unique exhibition, titled Across the Atlantic: CUBAN ART.

To orchestrate the event, the National Museum Foundation called on AGS Morocco to manage the packing and transportation of some 110 works from Cuba and New York. Consisting of paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installations by 23 Cuban artists, they provide insight into the influences that have shaped Cuban art.

“This project was special for two reasons,” says Clément Beauvais, head of AGS fine art logistics in Africa. “Firstly, because several of the works came from Cuba, a geopolitically sensitive country with distinct customs regulations.

Secondly, because our team also had to assemble and install the works at the exhibition. The foundation required professional help from a team with enough experience to respect the positioning instructions and ensure the works were exhibited correctly.”

More complex formalities from Cuba

To ship the pieces from Cuba, AGS Morocco tapped into its network of specialised agents to find the right local partner. It was this partner who navigated Cuban customs, completing the documentation required to obtain export permits.

They also oversaw the delicate packing of the works together with the artists themselves. And it is thanks to their flexibility and responsiveness that AGS could ensure the works arrived in Morocco on time.

The pieces from New York arrived via a more conventional process, with a longstanding AGS partner on site. But flexibility was crucial until the very end as some of the pieces selected changed at the last minute.

Morocco, a key country for the development of fine art

AGS Morocco Offers Expert Services Transporting Fine Art in a Safe and Reliable Way

“Morocco has become an important cultural hub for fine art in Africa,” adds Clément Beauvais. “The Kingdom is committed to developing its cultural and museum sector as a way of forging links with other nations. Morocco, with its generations of contemporary artists, contributes to Africa’s cultural influence throughout the world.”

AGS Morocco has already provided logistical support for several art exhibitions:

  • Transporting extremely fragile and valuable archaeological finds from Morocco to Spain for Around the columns of Hercules, the millennia-old relationship between Morocco and Spain, an exhibition designed to promote cultural exchange.
  • Shipping Beninese works from Rabat to France for the exhibition Benin from yesterday to today, from restitution to revelation.
  • Transporting a complete exhibition from Rabat to Lisbon for an exposition titled A History of Moroccan Art, featuring contemporary Moroccan artists.

“The transport of fine art requires specific services and precise handling,” emphasises Gil Recizac, head of AGS Morocco. “Clément Beauvais plays an essential role in the development and success of this new department. AGS now has expertise in a technically demanding and complex sector and can draw on a network of subsidiaries for all these operations.”

AGS Rabat brings support to flood victims in Morocco https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-rabat-brings-support-to-flood-victims-in-morocco/ https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-rabat-brings-support-to-flood-victims-in-morocco/#respond Thu, 12 Mar 2015 15:02:24 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/?p=22290 Throughout the winter of 2014-2015 Morocco was subjected to severe floods, causing multiple casualties and damage. Touched by the struggle of the affected populations in the Atlas Mountains, AGS offered them support.

The Flambeau Arc-En-Ciel Rabat Association, a Lions Club branch, organised and set up the Caravane Solidaire (Solidarity Caravan). The aim of this humanitarian project was to provide 150 families from three different ‘douars’ – isolated villages located in Sitti Fadma in the High Atlas, some at an altitude of 4 000m – with much-needed food supplies.

AGS Movers Morocco offered to pack, transport and distribute the goods in Sitti Fadma, where nimble pick-up vehicles and even donkeys took over the transport to finally reach the people in need. Thanks to the donations collected by the association, each family was given a box including flour, sugar, olive oil, lentils, tea, couscous, rice, two blankets and some clothes.

It is a high priority task for AGS to take care of the communities where its branches are located. By bringing help to the victims of these floods, AGS Movers Rabat has done a fantastic job in favour of its local community. Helping local communities by assisting the victims of natural disasters is just another way we look to utilise our network and lend a helping hand.

AGS also participates in the UN Global Compact, and works to engage in activities which uphold values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

Congratulations and many thanks to AGS Rabat for its joint effort with the Flambeau Arc-En-Ciel Rabat Association, helping those affected to keep their heads up.

AGS staff member nominated as top student at recent FIDI seminar https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-staff-member-nominated-as-top-student-at-recent-fidi-seminar/ Wed, 26 Mar 2014 13:55:46 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/ags-staff-member-nominated-as-top-student-at-recent-fidi-seminar/ When a FIDI Academy training seminar was hosted in Prague in February – for 16 top-performing students from AGS and 14 international colleagues from other FIDI affiliated companies – it was AGS’ Louis Thiercelin who was formally acknowledged by the FIDI Academy as the top student present.

The comprehensive five-day ‘Essentials in International Moving’ seminar consisted of a classroom session, covering everything from professional packing services and loading to freight forwarding, quotations and contracts and insurance.  Site visits to sea, railway and air-freight terminals were also included.

At the time of the course Louis was Deputy Branch Manager for AGS Movers Morocco (he has since moved to AGS Movers Algeria), and what makes his achievement even more remarkable is that this was the first such FIDI Academy seminar he had attended.

“I was very proud that amongst other competitors it was an employee from AGS who was selected as the top student,” says Louis of the recognition. “What made that possible is the fact that AGS’ Future Branch Managers’ Training schedule is very broad: we really see all aspects of the removal industry and that helps in the FIDI Academy.”

Chantal Fera, FIDI Academy’s manager, stresses the importance of these seminars, which are held around four times a year (depending on demand).

“The FIDI Academy training seminars are unique because they are developed and delivered by industry experts,” she explains.

“Participants gain not only knowledge in all areas of international moving but also they do share their experience with 30 international colleagues and they make friends for life – which also means future business opportunities with trustful agents they know and they have worked with.”

AGS Morocco’s branch manager, Jean-Noël Boulnois, also congratulated Louis and his colleague Emilie Ducert – who participated in the same seminar and also received the FIDI EiM diploma.

“As AGS Morocco’s Branch Manager, I am of course proud of Louis; his success reflects the good training he was delivered by the branch”, says Jean-Noël. “The whole team of AGS Morocco congratulates and thanks them for representing us with brio”.
