An industry legend, 79-year old Ashkenazy senior has reduced his public performances over recent years, and hasn’t visited Thailand in decades. When AGS Group Chairman, Alain Taïeb heard of Ashkenazy’s anticipated performance in Bangkok, he immediately agreed to get involved.

The vibrant classical music scene in Bangkok has expanded progressively, attracting both expat and young enthusiasts. In partnership with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (BGO) and TAYS Musical, AGS Movers Thailand was a key driver in the promotion of the concert especially amongst French expatriates.

It was the first time that AGS Movers Thailand sponsored an event of this calibre and, due to its involvement, the branch was able to offer its dedicated clients complimentary tickets to the event. The memorable evening will remain etched into the minds of the entire AGS Movers Thailand team and its clients.

AGS Director Joëlle Castro (second from right) addressed the UFE’s General Assembly in Paris. Mr Gérard Pelisson, Chairman of the Accor Group, recently signed an agreement with the AGS Group’s Chairman, Alain Taïeb. This establishes a partnership which sees AGS joining forces with the Union of French Expatriates (UFE) – an organization Mr Pelisson has led since 1997.

Founded in 1927, the Union of French Expatriates (UFE) is recognized as a public interest organization. Its network unites French nationals, French speakers and Francophiles worldwide.

The UFE’s actions are driven by four strong values: hospitality, mutual aid, friendliness and outreach.

The organization works to protect French nationals abroad in the areas of health, education, security, taxation, suffrage and citizenship issues.

The UFE is also a representative in the field for the French Embassy, the French Consulate and other authorities in France. Its role as an intermediary with local communities is very important, especially with regards to the security of French citizens.

The UFE is present in over 90 countries and the AGS Group is established in 84 countries, so we both have many synergies to develop! Our shared goal is to provide support to French people around the world: whether they are already expatriates, or upon their departure from or return back to France.

It is with great pleasure that we are participating in this exclusive partnership project. The agreement was signed on 25 February in the presence of Gerard Pelisson, UFE Chairman; Marc Boudin, UFE General Delegate and Charles Baudart, AGS Movers France President.

A delegation of the AGS Group was also honoured to attend the UFE’s General Assembly. This took place in Paris on 12 March, and was followed by an evening gala attended by 330 guests. The event was a valuable opportunity to present AGS’ activities to all UFE directors and partners, and discuss future joint actions at local and international levels.

Firstly, this partnership enables the UFE to benefit from our expertise in moving and relocation services; and secondly, reinforces AGS’ presence amongst French nationals and UFE members overseas.

Joint actions will also be swiftly initiated through all the means at our shared disposal – including newsletters, articles in the UFE’s ‘La Voix De France’ magazine, and local actions in partnership with UFE branches worldwide.

We are thrilled with this agreement and the opportunities that it presents to both parties!

We look forward to celebrating this milestone through high-profile events in Johannesburg (20 September 2016), Paris (27 September 2016) and London (29 September 2016).

This will be a celebration of the 25 years’ presence of the AGS Group in Africa, as well as of the complete coverage it offers its customers throughout the world for their mobility to or from Africa. No doubt it has also had happy repeat visitors because AGS Bucharest is active: the truck has been on display five times in recent months!

In June, AGS Movers Bucharest was present at the Year End party for the French High School in Bucharest, and in July the bouncy truck was erected at the AmCham’s party to celebrate the US Independence Day.

Next up at the start of September the truck thrilled children at the first ‘Embassies Festival’ in Bucharest (where AGS was a logistics partner and exhibitor), and was also a highlight at the American International School of Bucharest’s annual charitable event, the Terry Fox Run.

In October, the team and truck attended the first Expat Fair in Bucharest.

This new report describes several major events and projects of 2014, including our handling of the Ebola crises which struck Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, and our support of the local communities during this difficult period.

We also highlight our Africa54 project – following the opening of AGS branches in São Tomé and Príncipe, in Comoros and in Guinea-Bissau – and you will find insight about the Group’s initiatives in terms of social ethics and the ISO 14001 certification obtained by two European AGS branches.

As the first international removals company to participate to the UN Global Compact, AGS’ wish is to lead the way and encourage other companies to commit to a more sustainable future.

The goal of the event was to not only gather a large number of women to allow them to share their vision of this beautiful industry, but also to raise funds for the Reaching U organisation – which aims to facilitate access to education for Uruguayan children.

The Latin American and Caribbean International Movers Association (LACMA) is an association comprised mainly of the finest Latin American and Caribbean international movers, as well as movers from around the world.

In addition to supporting an honourable cause, the participants made the most of this opportunity to meet and exchange between fellow women of the removals industry.

Thanks to the guests and the generosity of several companies’ Directors, a total of
US $4 060 was raised at the event in February.

Marcela Balderas, LACMA Ladies’ treasurer, was able to gather all the funds and hand it over to Reaching U’s Manager, who was very impressed with the amount raised.

The money is going towards implementing the ‘Ultreia Project’ at the San Adolfo school. This benefits 52 pupils in pre-school and 71 pupils in their 1st to 3rd year of primary school, as the project aims to improve the writing and reading skills at pre-school level and during the three first years of primary school.

Joëlle Castro, Paula Colmenares and Marcela Balderas are very pleased with the outcome and wish to organize similar events in the near future.

A total of 63 women took part in the first LACMA Ladies event, during which four groups were formed in order to debate topics linked to the question of ‘women in the workplace’. The guests then received an exclusive belly dance class by Diana Cuevas from the LACMA office. Her talent was acknowledged by everyone in the venue as she concluded the tutorial with a fantastic performance.

The next LACMA convention will be hosted in Columbia. Given the success of this first LACMA Ladies, Joëlle Castro, Paula Colmenares and Marcela Balderas are determined to do even better in the next gathering!
