I have moved 8 times in the past for business reasons and Vlad and his team delivered the very best experience I ever had. This is all the more appreciated as this was done in the difficult context of the Covid virus and all steps were perfectly delivered from the quotation to the delivery. I want to thank Vlad and his team again, really a best in class service”

AGS Bucharest delivers food packages to schools https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-bucharest-delivers-food-packages-to-schools/ Tue, 18 Jun 2019 07:13:39 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/?p=41240 AGS Movers Bucharest recently teamed up with Inocenti, a non-governmental organisation in Bucharest, to help distribute food packages to pupils at three schools located outside of Bucharest.

Inocenti’s main mission is to help children and families in need, and to prevent the risk of abandonment. Every day, in Bucharest and Bistrita-Nasaud County, 36 members of the organisation and more than 500 volunteers take care of more than 2000 abandoned or at-risk children, as well as children requiring special attention.

The project, which was initiated by a previous AGS staff member, Valentina Costache, was a great opportunity to get involved and give back to the community.

The AGS Bucharest team, together with volunteers from Inocenti, distributed more than 160 packets of food products to the three schools. AGS Bucharest was honoured to be part of such an inspiring initiative.

AGS Bucharest attends school year-end celebrations https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-bucharest-attends-school-year-end-celebrations/ Mon, 06 Aug 2018 14:12:04 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-bucarest-participe-aux-fetes-de-fin-dannee-des-ecoles-internationales/ AGS Movers Bucharest attended the King’s Oak British International School’s academic year-end event on 15 June 2018, and another event at the Lycee Francais Anna de Noailles on 16 June 2018. Both organisations are well-known international schools in Bucharest and most of the students who attend are expatriates.

AGS Bucharest took advantage of the opportunity to dust off its inflatable AGS truck which is always a crowd-pleaser and proved to be the most successful booth, out-performing the pizza booth!

AGS Movers Bucharest also used the opportunity to network with the parents and share printed materials about the services the branch offers.

AGS Bucharest supports charity events https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-bucharest-supports-charity-events/ Fri, 16 Mar 2018 08:56:58 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/?p=30475 AGS Movers Bucharest supported an event by the Asociata Casa Plina which took place on St. Nicholas Day at the British School of Bucharest, in December 2017. The organisation supports disadvantaged children from the Teleorman region, one of the poorest regions in the country.

The school provided the venue for the event while a local company provided warm meals for the children. AGS Movers Bucharest was happy to participate in the initiative by donating gift bags consisting of chocolates, toys, fruits, cakes and candy to each child.

AGS Movers Bucharest was also excited to be a part of the International Women’s Association’s (IWA) Christmas bazaar this year.

The IWA aims to promote exchanges between expatriate and Romanian women through meetings, charitable activities and to discover trips to the country. The annual Christmas event brings together representatives of the business world and the diplomatic sphere. The aim of the event was to raise funds to help people from disadvantaged communities.

This year, 49 countries were represented through food stands, crafts and entertainment. Profits from sales and other contributions collected throughout the day were donated to charities in the Bucharest region. The grants will used to support various short-term projects.

AGS Movers Bucharest contributed to the event by means of a financial donation.

Although the kids were naturally focused on the presents, the packaging was AGS’ iconic red-and-white boxes; made even more special when they were handed over by Santa Claus himself!

Other activities in Romania:

Staff from AGS Bucharest joined members of the American Chamber of Commerce in their ‘AmCham Goes Green’ project for a greener Bucharest, with participants planting trees in the AmCham forest.

During Romania’s summer, AGS Bucharest collected clients’ donations of furniture, toys and clothes, and in November these were handed over to the Inocenti Foundation.

No doubt it has also had happy repeat visitors because AGS Bucharest is active: the truck has been on display five times in recent months!

In June, AGS Movers Bucharest was present at the Year End party for the French High School in Bucharest, and in July the bouncy truck was erected at the AmCham’s party to celebrate the US Independence Day.

Next up at the start of September the truck thrilled children at the first ‘Embassies Festival’ in Bucharest (where AGS was a logistics partner and exhibitor), and was also a highlight at the American International School of Bucharest’s annual charitable event, the Terry Fox Run.

In October, the team and truck attended the first Expat Fair in Bucharest.

AGS Romania celebrates youth and culture https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-romania-celebrates-youth-and-culture/ https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-romania-celebrates-youth-and-culture/#respond Wed, 24 Jun 2015 13:56:05 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/ags-romania-celebrates-youth-and-culture/ AGS branches take pleasure in engaging with their local communities around the world, and our Bucharest branch has shared news of two uplifting activities it has been involved with in Romania.

AGS Movers Bucharest participated in the recent International Festival hosted by the American International School of Bucharest – an event which attracted over 1 000 visitors!

AGS staff guided students on a virtual tour of the world between AGS branches.

“The little travelers of today will be our colleagues or clients of tomorrow!” says Branch Manager Gratiela Lascu.

The international festival saw students, parents, family, and friends coming together to showcase traditional costumes, dishes, music, art and games.

At AGS Bucharest’s booth, students were introduced to Fred – the AGS moving man – and the most active students were awarded with Lego games with Romanian highlights and atlases.

Paying tribute to George Enescu

On the very next day, AGS Movers Bucharest was again active in another event they had sponsored: the ‘City of Joy’ cultural tour, celebrating the troubled life of George Enescu (a famous Romanian composer and musician).

AGS Movers Bucharest’s staff spent a pleasant morning in the company of expats of all ages, discovering hidden gems related to Enescu and hearing interesting stories from a Cultural History expert.

“It was a beautiful Sunday which proved once more that at AGS we value people,” explains Gratiela. “We are here to help our clients not only have a stress-free move, but also take care to attenuate the cultural shock which comes with it.”

AGS Bucharest supports children in need https://www.agsmovers.com/news/ags-bucharest-supports-children-in-need/ Wed, 07 Nov 2012 13:55:39 +0000 https://www.agsmovers.com/ags-bucharest-supports-children-in-need/ AGS Movers Bucharest is giving back to the community through its participation in two worthy projects.

In the spirit of the United Nations Global Compact, of which AGS was the first removal company to join in 2009, AGS Bucharest is donating all used ink cartridges to Tin Factory, who are collecting for UNICEF’s projects in education, health and child protection.  Second, 2% of taxes on its salaries will be directed to the Second Change Romania Foundation, which supports children in need in the Berceni area of southern Bucharest.

Tin Factory started as a national project to collect empty cartridges in support of UNICEF projects. The goal of this collection is to uplift children in Romania by turning worthless waste into opportunity, and while doing so, contributing towards both the environment and country.

Second Chance Romania is a charity working to ensure the mental, physical and economic strength of the people of Berceni villages in Romania. They identify needs, offer programs, provide services and strive to inspire a positive change. They raised 20,000 USD for gifts and meals for children for Christmas, and they’ve gone from strength to strength ever since.

AGS Bucharest hopes its affiliation and contribution to these projects will make a lasting difference to those in need in Romania.
